Opera singer Kristīne Opolais will give a solo concert at the Latvian National Opera / Article

“I dedicate this special evening wholeheartedly to the memory of Andrejs Žagar, the former chairman of the board of the Latvian National Opera. He was my close friend and mentor for many years. We shared a special bond, I had complete trust in his advice on how to build my career as a singer. I am very grateful for all the beautiful opportunities he has given me. I will always miss Andrej, so I can’t think of a better way to honor his memory than to perform at the LNO again I hope to meet many of you in this celebration of life and art,” said Kristine Opolais.

The internationally sought-after Latvian soprano Kristīne Opolais rose to fame as an outstanding singing actress. Listeners have the opportunity to regularly experience his performances at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, the Bavarian State Opera, La Scala in Milan, at the Zurich Opera House, the Royal Opera House in London and elsewhere. The artist collaborates with directors such as Daniel Barenboim, Sir Antonio Pappano, Sir Simon Rattle, Sir Mark Elder, Andris Nelsons, Fabio Luizzi and Kirill Petrenko. Her performance has been recorded on countless CDs and DVDs, as well as screened live in cinemas around the world as part of Metropole Opera’s “Live in HD” project. From 2003 to 2007, Kristīne Opolais was a soloist of the Latvian National Opera. The artist is a two-time winner of the Latvian Grand Music Prize (2006, 2011).
