Opera singer Evgeny Kungurov has passed away – Theatreal

On April 8, at the age of 40, Honored Artist of Russia Evgeny Kungurov died. The opera singer’s body was found under the windows of his house in Moscow.

Evgeny Kungurov was born in 1983 in the small village of Zarechny, Sverdlovsk region. He graduated from music school in the accordion class, after which he began to sing in the choir. In 2000, he entered the school at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of Professor B. N. Kudryavtsev.

The opera artist became a laureate of many vocal competitions. For several years, Kungurov worked at the New Opera Theater. In 2012, he became a public favorite thanks to his participation in the television project “The Voice” on Channel One. Kungurov also starred in the transformation show “One to One.” In 2014 he was awarded the titles of Honored Artist of the Chechen Republic and the Republic of Ingushetia.

In 2022, Evgeny Kungurov was a soloist of the Kaliningrad Musical Theater. In addition, the opera artist hosted the “Romance of a Romance” program on the “Culture” TV channel. In 2023 he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.

“Evgeny Kungurov served only briefly at the Kaliningrad Musical Theater, from January to November 2022, but during this time he managed to play a number of outstanding roles: he performed the role of Figaro in the project “Mozart. The Wedding of Figaro. Selected”, the role of Lefort in A. Grétry’s opera “Peter” The Great” and give a big solo concert together with the soloists of the Kaliningrad Musical Theater, as well as take part in the Assembly “Vivat, Peter!”, dedicated to the birthday of the first Russian emperor, which was held at the Friedrichsburg Gate museum in June 2022. The Kaliningrad Regional Musical Theater expresses sincere condolences to the family and friends of Evgeniy Kungurov and deeply regrets the tragic loss of the Artist. He was a real talent and will forever remain in our hearts,” the Kaliningrad Musical Theater writes on its social networks.
