This feature is the result of a partnership with Yat which allows users to have a personalized set of emojis. Employee Value Proposition Mobile Opera Jorgen Arnesen provided more details on the new partnership in a press release.
He said his partnership with Yat marked a major paradigm shift in how the internet works. It’s been almost 30 years since world wide web launched to the public, there hasn’t been much innovation in the web link space. People still include .com in URLs.
“Through the integration with Yat, Opera users can remove .com or even words in their links and only use emojis to be directed to websites. It’s just easier and more fun,” said Arnesen.
Opera emoji integration
Through the new emoji integration, Opera now makes it easy for all internet users to find and be directed to the Yat page which is a unique domain generated when Yat is created from a personalized emoji set.
Reported Tech Radar, Tuesday (15/2), users can customize their Yat page or redirect it elsewhere on the web. For example, musicians around the world have created their Yat pages including Lil Wayne whose page redirects users to his record label or Steve Aoki who redirects to his website. In addition, G-Easy, Kesha, Young Money, 3Lau and Disclosure also use Yat.
After this new integration, Opera’s Yat emoji web address no longer needs to be followed by “.y.at.” At the same time, the emoji row on the web page is linked to the corresponding Yat page automatically.
This new breakthrough is supported by most of the users who use emojis. According to Brandwatch, 90 percent of the 4.6 billion internet users worldwide have used emoji to express themselves. Opera’s integration with Yats opens up new ways for people to be present on the web.
