Opening plan: malls in La Florida and Maipú reopen and 113 of the 150 shopping centers in the country are already operating

As quarantines have been lifted in some communes, the malls have opened the doors of their complexes to the public, beyond the premises considered essential services, such as supermarkets, pharmacies or banks; that continued to function.

Today, most of the shopping centers are partially open -and with several restrictions- and it is expected that during the next few days more venues will begin to reopen. In the Metropolitan Region this will intensify even more, because communes such as Cerrillos, La Florida, Huechuraba and Maipú, where some of the largest shopping centers in the capital are located, went into a transition phase this week.

Thus, this Monday Florida Center, of the Cencosud group, began its gradual opening, with hours of operation from 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. It is estimated that during the first ten days of operation, the mall will have approximately 40% of the stores open.

To reinforce the safety of the process, during the first week of operation of the shopping center, the administration decided to reduce the capacity allowed by the authority by 50% and the equivalent of only 1 person per 20 m2 will be allowed, half of what the regulations establish valid.

The operation of gastronomic establishments, of course, will be postponed for a week after the opening of the shopping center and only for delivery and take-away alternatives.

Mall Arauco Maipú also began its gradual reopening on Monday. During the day a review of the protocols of those premises that are still closed was carried out, which may be opened as long as they are in compliance with the established.

From Mall Arauco Maipú they indicated that there are more than 20 measures that have been applied, among which are the control of maximum capacity, digital gates for temperature control and use of a mask, as well as pedal sanitizing dispensers and sanitizing foot cleaners. The opening hours of the venue will be from 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

On the other hand, this week Mall Plaza Vespucio located in La Florida and Mall Plaza Oeste in Cerrillos will also gradually reopen its doors. In the case of Mall Plaza Vespucio, the visit to the shopping center must be scheduled in advance.

The Chamber of Shopping Centers (CCC) reported that of the total of 150 associated shopping centers, there are currently 113 partially open, in different phases, according to the conditions of the different communes where they are located. In other words, today 75% of the malls are partially working.

At a disaggregated level, of those 113 partially opened, 47 are located in the Metropolitan Region and 66 are located in other regions of the country. On the other hand, it is estimated that the percentage of open stores is over 35%.

It should be noted that at the national level the gross leasable area (GLA) is 4,437,289 total square meters.

Meanwhile, in the eastern sector, which will go to Phase 3 in the coming days, restaurants and cafes located in the boulevard areas will be able to operate, but with capacity restrictions, which will be limited to 25%. Currently, most of the restaurants within shopping centers that remained open did so with delivery and take away alternatives.
