Ho Chi Minh City (VNA) – On August 7, Ho Chi Minh City inaugurated three intensive care centers, under the management of three special hospitals, including the Bach Mai, the Viêt Duc hospital and the central hospital of Huê, with 1,500 beds in total.

These three intensive care centers will take care of patients infected with COVID-19. They are located in the field hospital N ° 16 (7th district), N ° 13 (Binh Chanh district) and N ° 14 (town of Thu Duc).

Speaking at the ceremony, Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee chairman Nguyên Thành Phong said the city was going through an unprecedented difficult period. With its strong and rapid spreading characteristics, the Delta variant has caused many difficulties and challenges in the prevention and control of the outbreak, especially regarding the treatment.

Like the Prime Minister’s guiding spirit “to fight the epidemic as well as to fight the enemy” and “Protecting people’s health comes first”, from the end of June 2021, the city had proactively established field hospitals for COVID-19 treatment. So far, the city has 15 field hospitals and 42 hospitals and treatment facilities commissioned for nearly 45,000 beds.

In particular, in just 20 days, the city completed the construction of three field hospitals (13, 14 and 16), and in one week, in coordination with the Ministry of Health, it opened three resuscitation centers.

“The commissioning of intensive resuscitation centers, equipped with modern equipment and the cooperation of doctors and nurses at central and local levels will help to improve the efficiency of the treatment of patients infected with COVID-19 in the city”, said Nguyên Thành Phong.

The chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee stressed that the city’s current main goal is to minimize the number of critically ill patients and deaths from COVID-19. Therefore, the city demands that the field hospitals and resuscitation centers must coordinate and strictly carry out the directions of the Ministry of Health and always put the priority on protecting the health of patients.

On August 7, the Novaland group officially handed over the COVID-19 resuscitation center to the Hue Central Hospital unit which supports the treatment of COVID-19 in Ho Chi Minh City (Truong Chinh Street, Tân Phu district) .- CVN / VNA
