Opening of the Artdocfest / Riga film screening; watch the movie “Mommy, visit” / Article

The international documentary film festival will take place live on September 3 at 6 pm on the public media portal LSM.lv from “Splendid Palace” “Artdocfest/Riga” opening of the public program. Celebrating the opening of the festival program, one of the films of the “Artdocfest / Riga” program will be available on the portal LSM.lv – a short film created by the Russian director Anna Artemjeva in 2020.Mom, come to visit”. This is the story of the divorce of a mother and her 3-year-old daughter. Everyone lives in a different country, and visa problems prevent the mother and daughter from being together. Every day they communicate in a video chat and dream of a meeting soon.

The film is not recommended for viewers under 18 years of age. It will be broadcast in Russian with English subtitles. The film will be available on the portal until September 6, 6.30 pm and can be viewed only in the territory of Latvia.

From September 3 to 9, the Splendid Palace cinema will have the opportunity to watch 30 films from different parts of the world, as well as the film “Gorbachev. Paradise ”. Impression program available on the festival website.

According to the organizers, the September film screenings are organized as “returning the debt to the audience”, because the festival had to be postponed and restricted several times due to the pandemic and the general public did not have the opportunity to watch the film in the cinema.

Festival winners and film directors from France, Belgium, Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany and Estonia will also come to the screenings to present their films, meet with media representatives and receive awards by hand.

Latvia is represented at the festival by Ivo Briežis’ film “Homo Sovieticus” and Elīna Lange-Ionatamishvili’s “Restless Memories”, which won the main award “Baltic Focus” HERCS – both produced by the studio “Mistrus Media”, as well as Giedre Žickīte’s film Leap ”, Co-produced by the studio” VFS films “(Latvia), and which won the” Baltic Focus “award HERCS for the best direction.

“Artdocfest” was founded in Russia in 2007 by director Vitalijs Manskis, who later moved to Latvia and brought the festival with him. Since 2020, the festival has been held independently of other cinema events, becoming an important reference point for cultural and documentary cinema in the Baltic and Eastern European region.
