Emotion transpires in his words. An emotion mixed with relief. It is confirmed: the community of communes of Bouzonvillois and Trois Frontières (CCB3F) will welcome from Tuesday March 2, its vaccination and screening center. Located at the Saint-Hubert village hall in Bouzonville, it will be open Tuesday to Sunday from 1:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and will have the capacity of one inoculation of serum every five minutes. Two vaccination lines are planned, each with a doctor and two referring nurses. The doses will be sent to Bouzonville twice a week and stored in refrigerators provided for this purpose. “It’s a great victory and a source of pride”, admits Armel Chabane, mayor and president of the CCB3F The opening of this vaccination center is a strong signal for our populations who feel abandoned and forgotten. This shows that even if in the countryside, we have few means, with heart, work, conviction, we manage to be heard up to the highest summits of the State ”.

Scrap hard
But this adventure was not easy and the elected official, as well as his colleagues from other municipalities, had to scrap hard since January 8, date on which they made the first steps with the prefecture. “It almost collapsed on numerous occasions, remembers Mr. Chabane. First, we were told that there were enough doses, then more enough. We were confronted with orders and counter-orders, but we never gave in ”. With as spokesperson, Claude Dulamon, the sub-prefect of the district of Boulay-Forbach who ended up winning the case with the Ministry of Health.
For his part, Armel Chabane and the other elected members of the CCB3F managed all the logistics and in particular managed to rally to their cause, the medical staff of Bouzonvillois and the surrounding municipalities. In the end, a team of around fifteen doctors and nurses responded and shuffled their agendas in order to free up time for the vaccination campaign. “With the aim that the 25,000 inhabitants of the community of communes can benefit from it. Because, we live in a white zone where the closest hospitals are in Metz, Thionville, Saint-Avold, Nancy ”.

Transport available
The people accessible to this service are currently those considered a priority by the government. Namely, those over 75 years of age and patients with associated pathologies. “I asked my fellow mayors to identify all the people who want to be vaccinated. If some of them have mobility problems, we will provide them with a shuttle that will take them home, to take them to the vaccination center ”. Armel Chabane intends to facilitate access to immunity for all: “We will put the package”. At the same time, a screening campaign is being organized on March 5 and 6 at the Bouzonville gymnasium. The tests are free and it is not necessary to make an appointment or to have a prescription.
