With the winning film of the Berlinale 2023 – “Sur L’Adamant (On the Adamant)” the European film festival schriftArt 2023 begins this evening in Neubrandenburg. In the film, the French director Nicolas Philibert describes how people with mental illnesses in the day clinic on the Adamant be treated with very creative methods. The organizers said the film shows how it is possible to respond openly and caringly to such patients even in times of crisis.
DocumentArt is one of the most important film festivals in East Germany. It takes place every two years and offers a podium primarily to young European filmmakers. At the anniversary edition in Neubrandenburg, 43 films from 24 countries compete for five prizes. A total of 57 films will be shown. The topics range from the war in Ukraine, the search for one’s own identity, the effects of climate change to the close observation of how societies are currently changing. 2000 films were submitted and viewed by a jury.
