Opening gardens? No test, for that with a good surcharge. Will beer become more expensive?

The opening of outdoor restaurant facilities has been a big topic in recent days. The government eventually relinquished the need to prove itself in the covid test to sit in the garden, but customers will pay extra in pubs.

The operators of restaurants and catering establishments finally have reason to rejoice, after many months they can open their outdoor spaces to their customers from today.

For many entrepreneurs, this is a small step forward, but the problem is that gardens represent barely twenty to thirty percent of current sales. At the same time, the government has not yet stated how they will deal with compensation in this case.

Under current conditions, it does not pay to be open to restorers, as their income will not even cover basic expenses.

In the end, the waiters do not have to check the tests, but guests can expect a hygiene check

After long debates and a revolt of entrepreneurs from the gastro industry, guests in the gardens do not have to prove themselves to the restaurant staff with a negative covid test.

However, customers will have to prove themselves in the event of a police or hygiene check, otherwise they will face a fine.

But it was as if fate had thrown one stick under the feet of another after entrepreneurs. When they have finally opened the gardens, the weather is not good for them. According to meteorologists, rainy days are still waiting for us, so sales will be significantly lower than restaurant operators originally expected.

Food and energy prices are rising, customers will pay at least ten percent extra

As the pandemic in particular has had one of the most devastating effects on the gastronomy sector, failing businesses will have to raise prices in an effort to save themselves.

“Some restaurateurs are really more expensive. Don’t be surprised when CEZ announces on Wednesday that it is increasing the prices of supplies by a fifth.

But Kastner pointed out that some entrepreneurs do not have to go the way of rising prices. “Gastro will not increase in price. There are two types of restaurateurs. Someone will easily cut down on quality and will fight the price. Those who want to maintain quality will go up in price,” he claims.

So far, the only stable item is beer, where there is no danger of any massive increase in price. “Beer is price sensitive. I think it will also become more expensive, but I do not expect a jump,” Kastner added.
