Tennis professional Daniel Altmaier is not gaining momentum before the French Open (from May 30th). The 22-year-old from Kempen, who had celebrated the biggest success of his career so far in Roland Garros last year with his surprising sixteen-finals entry, had to beat Spanish veteran Feliciano Lopez (39) in the first round at the ATP tournament in Geneva with 6 : 7 (6: 8), 4: 6 beaten.
Altmaier is still waiting for his first victory in an ATP main field since his breakthrough in Paris last autumn. In Geneva he only moved into the tableau as a lucky loser and missed the German round of 16 duel with Dominik Koepfer (Furtwangen) due to his opening defeat.
