OpenAI Unveils Shap-E: A Generative AI Model for 3D Image Creation from Textual Description

OpenAI has unveiled Shap-E, a new generative artificial intelligence model that can create 3D images from a textual description. Shap-e posted in the public domain, you can already download it and try it.

The neural network can generate sculptures, architecture, parts of mechanisms, in the future this may be useful for 3D printing. AI uses a special set of features that allows it to create 3D models from 2D images. The generated objects can then be exported to other applications. Previously, OpenAI has already introduced a similar neural network called Point-E, however, according to the developers, Shap-E is much faster and has more and more advanced functionality.

OpenAI is known as the developer of the ChatGPT artificial intelligence chatbot. Earlier, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said that the development of AI should be regulated by law, and proposed the creation of an agency that would license AI tools.
