OpenAI, the company behind chatbot ChatGPT, has just launched its new text-to-video tool powered by artificial intelligence (AI).
Although the program, called “Sora,” is not yet publicly available, the video samples released by the company and its CEO, Sam Altman, are amazing.
According to The Guardian, MI’s new tool is capable of creating realistic videos of up to a minute in length that meet the user’s instructions for both subject and style. According to the company’s blog post, the model is also capable of creating a video based on a still image or augmenting existing footage with new footage.
For example: “Movie trailer about the adventures of a 30-year-old spaceman wearing a red woolen knitted motorcycle helmet, blue sky, salt desert, cinematic style, shot on 35mm film, vivid colors.”
Or: “Snowflakes fall from the sky as a couple walks hand in hand through Tokyo.”
The company said it has now opened up access to “Sora” to some researchers and video creators. Experts will “redlist” the product — checking whether it complies with OpenAI’s terms of service, which prohibit “extreme violence, sexual content, hateful images, likeness to celebrities or identities of others,” according to the company’s blog post.
