Sprint today, classic mass start tomorrow and legendary climb on Sunday. That’s all that’s left before Frida Karlsson can celebrate her first Tour de Ski victory.
Her teammate Maja Dahlqvist is happy to do what she can to help Karlsson get there.
– We will definitely look into it. We usually talk to each other before heats so we can be successful with as many girls as possible. On a tour it is clear that such a thing is being thought of for Frida, she says and continues:
– Then I think that no one is willing to jump in a ditch and shoot down a Norwegian for her. But if she can benefit both of us, we absolutely will.
Coach Stefan Thomson agrees with Dahlqvist.
– Absolutely, we’ll discuss it. Can you get some ideas about heat selection and such. But it’s hard to predict before we know how many will make it, she says.
Maja Dahlqvist believes Karlsson will go through with it.
– I’m not surprised at all. It’s actually more expected than unexpected. As long as he is at the start in the last stage, I think it will be really fun, says the sprint specialist who will interrupt the tour himself after today’s sprint in Val di Fiemme.
