In an interview with Bloomberg Aker’s CEO Øyvind Eriksen talks warmly about bitcoin.
– We are curious about this technology. This includes understanding how bitcoin and the blockchain will change behavior patterns and the markets we are in, he tells the news agency.
Eriksen further says that Aker has not yet set up a payment system for bitcoin yet.
– Things happen very quickly here. “I am no stranger to the idea of receiving payment in bitcoin,” he told Bloomberg.

Elon Musk recently created shockwaves in the bitcoin community by saying that Tesla will no longer accept bitcoin as a means of payment due to concerns about the “rapidly increasing use of fossil energy sources” in bitcoin mining.

Røkke also wrote that bitcoin can accelerate the transition to renewable energy, and like Musk, Røkke has used the CO2 footprint of global gold production to justify bitcoin’s climate emissions.
In the interview with Bloomberg, it appears that the Aker system has not changed its view of bitcoin after Musks’ latest move.
