Why I think Carlo is seriously contemplating a starting role for Arda Guler.
Shades of Ozil? Of Odegaard? Or Guti? Maybe all three. The young Turk seems a more natural fit on the right, has goals in him, tracks back on defense, can play a deeper role and will be the new set piece and corner taker when he’s on the pitch. This last aspect is key especially with Kroos gone and no obvious replacement available. Whether it’s a 4-3-3 or 4-4-2, Guler seems versatile enough to adapt. The obvious victim here is Rodrygo.
