The young Frenchman beat the Swede Mikael Ymer (101st player in the world) in three sets (6-3, 6-7, 6-2). The player from Gassin has offered the luxury of facing the Italian Jannik Sinner (17th player in the world) this Thursday in the round of 16 of the Lyon tournament.
Earlier in the afternoon, the shock of this first round between Jannik Sinner and Aslan Karatsev therefore turned to the advantage of the 17-year-old Italian. Victory in three sets for the new nugget of world tennis (0-6, 6-3, 6-4).
In the other meetings of the day, Lorenzo Musetti joined the quarter-finals after his victory (6-3, 1-6, 6-4) against Sebastian Korda.
