Open Ocean Robotics and 1stMission Team Selected by NOAA for Multiple Award IDIQ Contracts

Open Ocean Robotics, in partnership with the 1stMission Team, has been selected by NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration) as one of the awardees for all three Multiple Award IDIQ contracts. Facilitated by the Unmanned Systems Operations Center (UxSOC) of NOAA’s Office of Naval and Air Operations (OMAO), these contracts cover meteorological and oceanographic observations, marine living resource surveys and research, and ocean exploration and characterization.

With these contracts, Open Ocean Robotics will be able to provide Unmanned Maritime Systems (UMS) services to NOAA, enhancing their coastal and open ocean monitoring capacity. This partnership will enable the simultaneous collection of oceanographic and atmospheric data, supporting various initiatives such as research, exploration, marine understanding, environmental protection and weather forecasting.

The contract ordering period is three years, starting on September 1, 2023 and ending on August 31, 2026. This collaboration has the potential to generate significant revenue for Open Ocean Robotics and the Mission 1 team. It highlights Open Ocean Robotics’ commitment to advancing ocean science and environmental stewardship through innovative UMS solutions.

“We are excited to partner with NOAA on this effort,” said Andy Sigweide, director of sales for Open Ocean Robotics. “This award is a testament to NOAA’s confidence in our capabilities and our strategic partnership with the Mission 1 team. Together, we aim to contribute to NOAA’s mission to understand and conserve the nation’s marine resources, an important step forward in our mission to advance marine technology and create a more sustainable future for our oceans.

This partnership between Open Ocean Robotics and NOAA will greatly enhance NOAA’s ability to monitor and study the oceans, furthering their mission to protect and conserve our marine resources. This is an important milestone in the development of marine technology and the promotion of environmental sustainability.
