Various healthcare organizations in Kennemerland are concerned about the public debate about the relaxation of the corona measures. The institutions write this in an open letter on their website. They think sentiment is changing from a year ago.

In the letter, the care providers write that on March 17, 2020, applause could still be heard in the streets throughout the Netherlands. It was a round of applause to cheer up the health workers. But the organizations note that sentiment has changed in recent months. Where there used to be solidarity with the care workers, there is now mainly a call for relaxation of the corona measures.
Overloaded
And that while the care is still overburdened, the care providers write in the brief. The number of infections is still worryingly high and in recent weeks the occupancy in hospitals has risen faster than capacity. Transferring patients is quite a puzzle and not always possible, the letter also states. According to healthcare institutions, ‘we will be much further away from home if the current trend continues’. With the appeal, the institutions want to achieve that people are aware that healthcare providers are still walking on their gums seven days a week.
Not against relaxation
The open letter also states that the care organizations are not against easing. According to them, the possibilities are now being looked at, for example in nursing homes. The care providers make an urgent appeal to the region: “Show solidarity with each other and with us. Keep going. So that it does not have to come to the point where patients no longer receive the care they need.”
