Open letter healthcare chain: ‘We are still dealing with blows to the corona crisis’ | HC news

MAIN VILLAGE The healthcare chain in the Kennemerland region is on Wednesday with a joint appeal to the region. They are concerned about the public debate on the measures while the concern is still overburdened. “We are still fighting,” say the various organizations. Together, the organizations share the following appeal on their website and ask the inhabitants of the region to show solidarity with each other and with care.

Lovely people,

On March 17, 2020 there was applause through the streets in the Netherlands. A round of applause for the healthcare heroes. A round of applause to encourage care workers. That solidarity seems much more than a year ago. But the message of this symbol may have become even more urgent now, as concerns are still taking the blows of the corona crisis.

Sentiment has changed in recent months. The applause has given way to calls for relaxation. While we are in a phase where solidarity is only becoming more important. We have started vaccinating and are also ready in our region to inject massively into residents and protect them against the virus that has been gripping us for far too long now. Of course we are open to relaxation if possible, for example in nursing homes we are looking at what options there are in this area. That is why we ask the region to still consider the basic measures when it comes to easing.

The reality is that at the moment in our region many more inhabitants are still being tested than vaccinated. That the number of infections is still worryingly high and that we are at a crucial stage when it comes to combating COVID-19.

This is reflected in the work of healthcare professionals in our region. In recent weeks, the occupancy rate in hospitals has risen faster than capacity. Transferring patients requires a lot of creativity and flexibility and is sometimes hardly possible anymore. More than a year after the applause, the care heroes are still walking on their gums. All our organizations work for you seven days a week.

If the current trend continues, we will be much further away from home. More regular care is being postponed, patients can no longer be transferred and the pressure on care, so both care at home and at a location, is becoming too great! Show solidarity with each other and with us. Keep going. So that it does not have to come to the point where patients no longer receive the care they need. After all, we still have to, because even if everyone will soon be vaccinated and the pressure on care for Corona patients decreases, we will have to catch up on care that we do not get around to now.

Right now, while there are calls for easing, it is important to realize that we are facing the effects of COVID-19, seven days a week, day and night. We are still fighting. And continue to do so. We do this with pride and love, but we cannot do that without you. We also have to do this last part together.
