A strong and cohesive community is also important for the city’s sporting expressions. Building synergies between all the city’s actors – institutions, sporting and other entities – is fundamental to creating an increasingly larger, ambitious and important Theatine community. And that has the sense of belonging as its first founding value. From these assumptions comes an open letter from Chieti Calcio, which with the new ownership is giving life to multiple projects, not only of a sporting nature, to the mayor Diego Ferrara in the exclusive interest of Chieti city.
This is the open letter published on social media by Chieti signed by president Di Labio:
“𝐶𝑎𝑟𝑜 𝐷𝑖𝑒𝑔𝑜,
As President of Fc Chieti 1922, I address you with esteem and appreciation for your work and the commitment you are demonstrating towards our city. As a sports club that has the values of belonging and development of the territory in its DNA, we are aware of the importance of building solid synergies to carry out large-scale projects, capable of offering concrete benefits to the entire community.
FC Chieti 1922 has launched ambitious and innovative initiatives that go well beyond the strictly sporting sphere, touching on social, educational and territorial aspects, with the aim of promoting the economic and cultural growth of our city. These projects are not only the fruit of our sporting vision, but represent a real opportunity for urban and social regeneration for Chieti, something that can leave a lasting impression on our city fabric.
However, Mr Mayor, the complexity and scope of these projects require strong collaboration and concrete support from local institutions. We are convinced that your role is crucial in giving impetus to these objectives, but we are also aware that a cohesive and compact team within the City Council can make all this more achievable and concrete. The construction of a broad consensus, which goes beyond the boundaries of the current majority, could guarantee the stability and determination necessary to support the initiatives of our club and the territory.
In this regard, I would like to bring to your attention a concrete situation that we consider to be a wake-up call. In September, we enthusiastically announced our contribution to support the city’s school canteens, certain that this initiative could represent concrete help for many families. However, two months later, we are still waiting for the official announcement, which is essential to start disbursing the contribution. This delay has generated significant difficulties: our press office receives daily emails from mothers and families asking for explanations and updates, embarrassing us as we are unable to provide certain and definitive answers.
If a simple initiative like this, aimed at supporting school children, has stalled, this leads us to reflect on the difficulties that we could encounter with much more complex projects, such as the Teti project and the new stadium. The complexity of these initiatives will require a rapid and efficient administrative machine, and this experience highlights how important a cohesive and proactive institutional team is to avoid similar slowdowns in the future.
Let us take advantage of this letter to lend a helping hand once again. We know that the problem of potholes is an issue that affects the daily life and safety of all citizens, and we are ready to do our part. Thanks to the collaboration with the COGEMA company, and thanking Eugenio and Massimiliano Maccarone for their availability, we are ready immediately to intervene to patch up all the potholes in the city. We know the budget difficulties of the Municipality and we are aware that this type of intervention it could be complex to sustain financially. This is why we wish to contribute, putting this possibility at the service of the city. However, you need your team to support initiatives like these so they can be coordinated quickly and efficiently.
In our experience, when we act with a clear and concrete vision, capable of responding to the needs of the territory, it is not difficult to gather consensus also from other political forces, as well as the support of the entire municipal government, including the council, the mayor and the councilors. We firmly believe that an expanded and inclusive Municipal Council and council can recognize the value of these projects and support Chieti in this path of growth and renewal. We are certain that all political forces, regardless of affiliation, have the well-being of the community at heart and are ready to collaborate for the good of the city.
I would like to underline, with transparency, that our intention is exclusively aimed at the progress of Chieti and has no personal or political interest. FC Chieti 1922 is and will remain an apolitical reality, committed only to supporting the territory we love and represent. Our only desire is to be able to contribute to building a positive future for the city, through quality initiatives and virtuous collaborations. Our commitment and our will are at the service of Chieti, and our invitation is addressed to you, Mr. Mayor, so that you can encourage a constructive and inclusive dialogue between all the members of the City Council. United, we can create the foundations for a change which, with your support and that of all political forces, will leave a tangible and positive sign for future generations.
With deep trust and gratitude for your attention, I renew my support and that of FC Chieti 1922 for any initiative that can benefit our city.
Giuseppe Gianni Di Labio
President, FC Chieti 1922″
