Pádraic Súilleabháin is a kindhearted soul living in 1923 on Inisherin, a small island off the west coast of Ireland. Every day at 2 p.m. sharp, he leaves to pick up his best friend and spends the rest of the day in the pub. But this time he doesn’t open the door and tells him that he doesn’t want anything to do with him anymore. And he even goes one step further: if Pádraic approaches him and presses him, he wants to cut off his own finger every time, until at some point he can no longer play his beloved violin.
