On October 14, 2023, Komárom hosted an unusual event, where the country’s largest battery factory, the South Korean SK On, opened its doors to the families of the workers. The primary goal of the event was to give the employees’ relatives the opportunity to learn more about the company’s production processes and activities, but the participants were also treated to a number of entertainment programs. The nearly one hundred gathered guests were greeted by the managing director of SK On Europe, Moon Hang-ki.
In his speech, he indicated that this is the first time that the factory’s doors will be opened to the public, so that the wives, husbands and children of the workers can get to know SK Ont and the work processes taking place there. “Many people have asked various questions about what kind of factory we are and how we operate,” he said, “which is why we are planning several such events with the city management, where the residents of Komárom will also have the opportunity to get to know us.”
Attila Molnár, the mayor of Komárom, was also present at the event, who thanked SK On for choosing the city as the site of the factory, and welcomed the fact that the company opened its doors to the families of the workers – albeit only for one day.
After the official opening, the guests were guided through the factory, where they could see the processes of battery production at SK On, and that the working conditions are really safe. After that, they could see a short, but all the more interesting presentation by the engineers working at SK.
“It was very exciting to see the production process, I learned a lot during today’s visit,” said a guest in response to our question. – “There was a lot of uncertainty in our family as to what was going on behind the walls, so it was reassuring to see that SK On pays so much attention to the safety of the workers and that everything goes as smoothly as possible.”
After the official program, various activities awaited the guests, from the smallest to the adults, everyone had the opportunity to try different exciting and fun games. At lunch, another unique experience awaited them: they could taste Korean food and drink specialties, as well as learn about Korean desserts.
“Every dish was delicious, I didn’t think the family would like it so much,” said another guest, who promised to try some South Korean recipes at home from now on. – “The SK On team organized very good programs for us, we had a great time. There were programs for the whole family, and I also liked that they didn’t hide things, but showed how the batteries are made. We are happy to come at any time if there is another event like this,” he added.
SK On’s open day was a great opportunity for the family members of the employees to learn more about the company’s activities and to celebrate together the company’s successes so far. The event contributed to strengthening the company’s workplace community, a
and family members felt honored to be able to see how the country’s largest battery factory works.
