Open-Air Cinema Sihlsee Badi: A Summer Film Experience

Next week on Tuesday, the open-air cinema Sihlsee Badi starts with the film “Ticket to Paradise”. Peter Füchslin is looking forward to five special film evenings.

Do you like to go to the cinema often?

Yes and yes. Like once a month for sure.

Which films do you like to watch the most?

The last movie I saw was Indiana Jones. I like action and adventure movies. The films “Ticket to Paradise”, “Puss in Boots”, “Whitney Houston: I wanna Dance with somebody”, “Green Book” and “Top Gun Maverick” will be shown on five evenings. Which of these films are you most excited for? I’m most excited about Whitney Houston. I like music adaptations, especially in the cinema because of the sound system. I’ve already seen Green Book and Top Gun. Besides the films mentioned above, which five films would you like to recommend to our readers and why? Of the classics, it’s Blues Brothers. This is a feel good film. And I never miss James Bond. I really liked the last ones that came out. I didn’t think there could be an increase there. I was a bit disappointed with the new Indiana Jones. But it also has to do with the fact that I watched the old ones on the sofa with my brothers. That was a different feeling. Back to the future is also a movie that I can always watch. I also think Coco from Pixar is really strong because of the story. The Queen film was shown at the last open air. It’s great too.

How did your commitment to the open-air cinema Sihlsee Badi come about? I’ve had the idea around for a long time. It was then that Samira Schnüriger initiated the project. That’s how I slipped in via village marketing. And now I’m OKP. The village marketing association has the patronage. The open-air cinema took place for the first time in 2019. What is special about this occasion?

It is the location that we are in a pool. I am not aware of any other open air cinema that is in a Badi. So you can go to the cinema with your swimming trunks. Worried about the weather?

No, don’t worry, but of course it’s much nicer when it’s nice. If the storm warning is in effect and if there is a thunderstorm, i.e. lightning strikes, the event will be cancelled. If it only rains, the movie night will be held. You can find out more on the website.

How is open-air cinema financed?

It is mainly financed by sponsorship contributions. It would be impossible to carry out the event just by entering. Admission costs CHF 15 per person. How many visitors do you expect? When the weather was bad, only 12 were present. On our best night, 317 guests attended. Advance sales have started very well, with Top Gun in particular attracting attention. Do I have to bring the popcorn and the cinema seat myself?

You don’t have to bring your own popcorn. For the physical well-being is taken care of. However, we do not have fixed seating. Everyone can take their seat with them. I think that’s also unique at the Badi Roblosen open-air cinema.

What’s new this year?

This year we have a special ticket for the first time: the popcorn, a drink, entry and a blanket when it gets colder are included.
