Business Insider reported on the 15th (local time) that CEO Musk criticized OpenAI for attempting to dominate the market through anti-competitive practices such as ‘excessive compensation.’

According to the complaint, “Open AI attempted to deplete competitors’ AI talent by aggressively hiring employees using excessive compensation, and plans to spend $1.5 billion (approximately 2.1 trillion won) on 1,500 employees.”

Open AI does not disclose salary data like listed companies. Instead, there are specialized sites that estimate this.

According to salary information site Levels.phi, the annual salary of Open AI employees ranges from $144,275 (about 200 million won) for a technical writer to $1,338,750 (about 1.9 billion won) for a software engineer. The average annual salary is known to be $534,197 (about 750 million won).

In particular, the average annual salary of software engineers is $810,000 (about 1.13 billion won), which is much higher than the Silicon Valley average of $257,500 (about 360 million won).

Comprehensive.IO, which specializes in compensation analysis, explained that the typical annual salary for engineering positions posted on the OpenAI website is $200,000 to $370,000 (about 270 to 520 million won), excluding stock compensation and bonuses. . He added that specialized jobs are higher at around $300,000 to $450,000 (approximately 420 to 630 million won).

This is higher than the annual salary of Microsoft (MS) employees revealed by Business Insider last August. CEO Musk pointed out that such inflated prices are an anti-competitive factor that prevents talent from moving to other companies.
