Programme trading Dominates Thailand’s Stock Exchange, accounting for Nearly Half of Daily Transactions
The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) witnessed a significant surge in program trading activity on January 28, 1968, wiht automated systems accounting for nearly 46% of the day’s total trading volume. According to the latest data, program trading, also known as robot trading, recorded a purchase value of 17,796.48 million baht and a sales value of 16,600.94 million baht, resulting in a net purchase of 1,195.54 million baht.
In contrast, non-program trading saw a purchase value of 19,650.63 million baht and a sales value of 20,846.17 million baht, leading to a net sales figure of 1,195.54 million baht. This highlights the growing reliance on automated systems in Thailand’s financial markets.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also revealed the top securities traded through program trading, with master Style Public Company Limited (MASTER), CBG, BAM, and OSP leading the pack. MASTER, in particular, saw its stock price close at 31.50 baht, marking a 6.78% increase from the previous day. The stock reached a high of 31.50 baht and a low of 29.25 baht, with a total trading value of 130.35 million baht.
