Opel brought to the IAA Mobility 2023 show in Munich the concept car Experimental which anticipates some of the contents that we will find within its future models. Furthermore, the manufacturer showed the public the new Astra Sports Tourer Electric and the facelifted Corsa electric.
Florian HuettlCEO of the automaker, also provided some interesting details of the future of Opel which, we recall, intends to become an electric-only brand in Europe by 2028. As Automotive News Europe reports, the most interesting news concerns the plan to introduce an electric car worth 25,000 euros in 2026.
Huettl pointed out that thanks to synergies of the Stellantis Group on platforms for electric carsOpel will be able to “reach a much wider audience“. The number one at Opel did not want to provide details on this car. We recall that there is not only Opel within the Group planning an electric car for 25,000 euros. In fact, we know that Citroen has also planned a model similar to be launched as early as 2025. Will these two cars share some of the mechanics?
Soon to understand since nothing has been said about the technical characteristics. Surely, more details of this project will emerge over the next few months. This model will therefore be very important for Opel’s electrification strategy.
Still talking about the future of the brand, several new battery-powered models are on the way including the new Crossland and Insignia. The first will arrive in 2024, while the second should debut in 2025. The car manufacturer of the Stellantis Group is therefore carrying out several interesting projects. All that remains, therefore, is to wait for new information to better understand the characteristics of the new electric models.
