Opel has expanded the range of electric moka

Stellantis is gradually rolling out a larger 54kWh battery with a usable capacity of 51kWh in its compact models. In September, the Peugeot e-308 was introduced with this battery, ahead of the Astra Electric equivalent late last month. After the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense update, a bigger battery is also heading towards the related electric mocha for the 2023 model year. Thanks to the bigger battery, the range of the electric crossover has increased from the previous 338 to 406 kilometers in the WLTP Cycle, which represents a 20% increase. It takes about half an hour to charge the battery to 80 percent, assuming you’re using a 100kW DC station. Interestingly, energy consumption has dropped to 15.2 kWh per 100 kilometers thanks to further modifications. With Peugeot upgrading the e-208’s battery, it’s only a matter of time before the corresponding electric ride gets a bigger battery as well.

Returning to the Mokka Electric model, it also gets a more powerful front electric motor with 115 kilowatts, 156 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. The electric motor, taken from the Astra Electric, has enough power to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in under 10 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 150km/h.

Today, Opel offers twelve electrified models, including a range of light commercial vehicles. By 2024, the brand will also offer an electrified version in every model line, and by 2028, Opel will be an all-electric brand in Europe.
