Opel is preparing to face the new year with a great novelty, a model that will have to revive the German brand
Opel and 2023. The car manufacturer, like many of its competitors, is preparing to face the new year amid unknowns and the aim of confirming the important numbers of some of its segments on the price lists. The German brand is part of the Stellantis group and two years after the birth of the multinational the sales numbers of the various brands show a very special situation, at two speeds.
Stellantis therefore today stands as a company made up of two parts that walk at different speeds. On the one hand there are the ‘locomotives’ of the group: Fiat and Peugeot, on the other hand the numbers of Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Opel cause concern. Premises therefore not encouraging and for this reason Opel immediately faced this new year with a great novelty.
Opel restyling for a historic model
The Corsa is the best-selling model in the Teutonic brand’s range, also in the private market, as regards its electric version. Not a novelty given that for years this city car has been moving on the roads of all of Europe, from generation to generation. However, this will also be the year of a small restyling for the very famous small car, which will also be affected by some choices made for the Mokka.
Revised the front, as well as the internal graphics of the headlights and added the Corsa lettering on the tailgate. Something so many other groups are doing with new versions of their machines. Matter of style. The large central touchscreen was also ‘taken’ from the Mokka. It will integrate the digital dashboard and multimedia screen.
Engines chapter: 1.2 shift, 48 V mild hybrid, which develops 131 hp, while the electric motor will be 156 hp, for autonomy, however, a 48 kWh battery is expected, you can travel about 400 kilometers before having to stop to reload. Even the interior of the passenger compartment will be influenced by the Mokka and at this point it is not wrong to think that the New Corsa is the smaller sister of the Opel compact.
The price of the new Opel Corsa
A restyling that comes after those of the Crossland and Grandland, the landing of the new Corsa is scheduled for this year and the entry level of this city car should start from 18,000 euros, for its internal combustion engine version. Higher price than in the past, but in line with all other car manufacturers.
However, this new version also coincides with the launch of the new electric motor, which is more performing than in the past. From 136 to 156 hp, while as mentioned the autonomy should be around 400 km. The year is new started just over a month ago and Opel has already had the very first results, given that the strategy to relaunch the Corsa has led to an increase in orders for this city car.
