Opava celebrates 800 years since the founding of the city this year. A two-day FEST in Městské sady and at Stříbrné jezera will take care of the birthday party.

Those in Opava can expect a historical parade called Meeting of the Ages, concerts by bands led by groups Kryštof or Jelen, as well as good food and drink. On offer will be a beer special, brewed just for this important anniversary or souvenirs with the celebration logo, which Opava residents should not miss in their calendar. They will start on Friday, May 24, from 4 p.m., with a procession that will lead from Dolní náměstí through the center past Hláska, along Krnovská to Jaselská Street and end in Městské sady.
Important personalities will also appear
King Přemysl Otakar I, whose signature granted Opava city rights in 1224, will not be missing in the procession, with his retinue and entourage. However, other important personalities of the city will also appear, for example Petr Bezruč, Joy Adamsonová, Max Breda or David Weinstein.

In the second part of the parade, contemporary cultural institutions, schools, interest groups, the Silesian Theater, the Basic Art School, the Leisure Center, the Silesian Regional Museum, companies and companies will be presented. After the parade, the singer PETR will perform, followed by the band BUTY.
Well-known bands will perform on Saturday
The groups Kryštof, Čechomor, Jelen and Majk Spirit will be performing on the main stage by the Silver Lake. The basic entrance fee to the area at Stříbrné jezera is 600 crowns, seniors, children and holders of a ZTP/P card get a discount, and children under 120 cm are admitted for free. Tickets are available at www.ticketportal.cz, the staff of the tourist information center will help interested parties with sales. The side stage in the City Gardens will be free.

Karol and Kvída and Michal Nesvadba will greet the children with their performances, there will be popular attractions, known from Opava children’s days, merry-go-rounds and refreshments. After the children’s program, BraAgas, Pokáč, Lenny or Middle of the Sandwich will perform.
