The talk show Op1 continues with Omroep MAX, the EO and WNL now that BNNVARA has withdrawn. The three broadcasters are looking for an editor-in-chief. In addition, works Op1 participated in a study of social safety in the workplace.
Currently has Op1 no editor-in-chief. Bert Huisjes, editor-in-chief of WNL, is now the point of contact for the programme. The editor-in-chief must ensure that Op1 maintains quality in the field of journalism, diversity and distinctiveness.
The EO, WNL and Omroep MAX are jointly looking for a new editor-in-chief. The editors also receive Op1 reinforcement, now that BNNVARA has withdrawn from the program. From July 17 to August 18, the talk show will take a break to get these things straightened out.
BNNVARA stopped Op1 after a conflict between Huisjes and editor-in-chief Rachel Franse. There would also be an unsafe working environment. Huisjes recently announced that it would say goodbye as a point of contact for Op1. The current conflict would be separate from that, said Huisjes.
Independent expert talks to (former) employees
Op1 participates in the research into workplace safety of the talk show. This is part of a larger study into the working atmosphere at public broadcasting. That investigation was initiated after the news about Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s misconduct behind the scenes of The world goes on.
In addition, an independent expert will soon talk to current and former employees of the talk show. This should result in advice to the broadcasters, so that they can work together optimally after the summer break.
The broadcasters said earlier that talks are underway to change the editorial structure. In this way, the individual broadcasters can “produce more of their own sound”.
It is not yet known how the Friday night of Op1, which is currently still provided by BNNVARA, will be completed from the end of August. That will be by WNL, Omroep MAX or the EO.
