District police officer Jan Waasdorp came to the car wash in Ridderkerk yesterday afternoon to assess the damage. “Everything is skewed, almost all washing brushes have broken off,” he tells RTL Nieuws.
Unhappy customer
“The woman was dissatisfied with the result after going through the car wash,” explains Waasdorp. She therefore went for a second round. “The employee asked if the car was in neutral, then the engine roared and she flew through the car wash.” The driver is said to have accidentally switched the accelerator and brake.

The car came to a stop against another car that had not yet left the car wash. The police officer does not know how much the damage is exactly, but it will probably be an expensive joke.
‘Cars were stuck’
“Both cars were stuck, first all washing brushes had to be removed,” says Waasdorp.
The woman appeared to have been drinking heavily. An alcohol percentage of 1.7 per mille was found in her blood, while a maximum of 0.5 per mille is allowed. The woman had probably drunk about six to nine glasses of alcohol.
