Given the long, very long list of sales and loans recorded by AS Monaco last summer, there will probably not be as many departures from the Rock in this month of January. But there should still be some movement. Winger Henry Onyekuru (23) is said to be close to leaving the club.
Bought from Everton in the summer of 2019 for 13.5 million euros, the Nigerian was then loaned to Galatasaray in January 2020 (10 games, 1 goal), before returning to the Principality at the end of the season. But it has only been used very little since the arrival of Niko Kovac on the Monegasque bench (4 appearances, 139 minutes of play, for an assist) and was even regularly absent from the group.
Currently in isolation in Nigeria with his wife affected by the coronavirus, the attacker is expected to be loaned with an option to purchase. And it’s Galatasaray, like last year, who holds the rope to make him come back.
A former OM in the medical staff
In a completely different sector, AS Monaco has also welcomed … a new doctor. Sylvain Blanchard, former member of OM’s medical staff and Racing 92 doctor for several seasons, has indeed been recruited by ASM.
The latter has just left his post at the Ile-de-France rugby club to take up his new functions, upon resumption, with the formation of the Principality.
