For his part, the President and CEO of the Ottawa Hospital, Cameron Love praised the timely assistance of the Ontario government.
“Over the past 18 months we have all been through difficult times. In particular, our health care system has been put to the test in a way we have never experienced in the past. This funding will go a long way to help healthcare workers meet the challenges of COVID-19 and implement the recovery plan over the next few years. ”
“Today’s funding will allow us to continue to improve access to surgical services for our patients and their families in this region,” he added.
New vaccination threshold
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson took the opportunity Monday to thank the Ottawa Hospital health workers assigned to fight the pandemic.
“Staff on the sixth floor of The Ottawa Hospital helped us through the darker days of the pandemic and we are seeing encouraging signs in Ottawa with very low hospitalization rates.”
To this end, Mayor Watson indicated that the City of Ottawa had crossed the threshold of 70% of adults having received their two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. What is more, the municipality ranks among the first in class in the province for the vaccination of adolescents from 12 to 17 years old, he proudly mentioned.
Vaccination passport
In addition, questioned to know his position on the subject of the vaccine passport proposed in Quebec and the effects on residents traveling on both sides of the river, Mr. Ford was categorical.
“With regard to the vaccination passport, this is the responsibility of the federal government,” he said. But I think I’ve been pretty clear, as has the Chief Medical Officer of Ontario: it’s just not necessary. We hope to reach the threshold of 80% of people fully vaccinated. We don’t need it. They tried in Israel and they failed. ”
