Study by Dr. Oliver Van Hecke of Oxford University Medical Center concluded that “Glutathione reduces the formation of proinflammatory cytokines, such as IL-9 and TNF- and the potential mechanism of this antioxidant (glutathione) has sparked interest in the current Covid-19 pandemic”.

Research conducted at Padjadjaran University shows that there have been many studies with drug candidates used as antivirals or immunomodulators for Covid-19. Debanjan Sen, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry, at BCDA College of Pharmacy and Technology in India and his team carried out virtual in-silico screening and repeated 100 ns molecular dynamics simulations to identify potential inhibitors of the SARS-CoV-2 virus from plant compounds from Moringa leaves. They found that Moringa oleifera contains three flavonoids: isorhamnetin, kaempferol, and apigenin which effectively inhibit viral replication of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
