From July 15, cafes and restaurants in Greece will be able to visit only against an up-to-date and negative test for COVID-19 or a vaccination certificate, according to an ordinance of the health authorities in the country, BNT reports. Tests performed at home will not be recognized. The measure will also apply to fitness and sporting events.

The new requirements for travel by ferries and intercity bus lines will come into force on Monday (July 5th). According to them, adults and children over 12 can travel only against a vaccination certificate, a negative PCR test or a rapid antigen test.

More than 60 percent of Greeks over the age of 60 are already immunized against COVID-19. The government’s goal now is young people. However, their interest in immunization remains low, even after the authorities offered a bonus of 150 euros if they get vaccinated. According to the government’s plans in Athens, by the end of August, 80 percent of the Greek population should be fully vaccinated. Now the percentage is half.
