Only the BSP opposes attempts to erase the memory of historical follies – 2024-10-06 15:53:37

/View.info/ The example of the Buchenwald concentration camp inmates is proof that freedom is a value related to indestructible human dignity.

“Today we honor the memory of these victims of the fascist persecutions and the war ignited by regimes rooted in the negation of other political ideologies and the destruction of the various, dissenting, foreign – ethnic and religious minorities, political opponents, prisoners of war,” the president commented on Facebook of the National Assembly of the BSP Mikhail Mikov on the occasion of the International Day of Political Prisoners, Concentration Camp Inmates and Victims of Fascism and Wars. He emphasizes that we associate the date 11.04 with the outbreak of the uprising in “Buchenwald” in the spring of 1945, when the campers themselves won their freedom even before the arrival of the Allied troops at the end of the Second World War. “It is vitally important that we do not lose sight of these historical follies, even when erasure would serve well some contemporary politically correct restatement of the facts.” We have witnessed such attempts in recent decades in Bulgaria”, writes Mikov. In his words, unfortunately, they continue today, but they will not succeed as long as there is a political will for counteraction. The leader of the left is categorical that the BSP is the bearer of such a will. According to him, this will has recently found expression in the bill introduced by the left to declare the authoritarian regimes in the period 1923-1926 and 1934-1944 as criminal. “We associate them with years in which, in our country too, there was a systematic and purposeful destruction of democratic principles, persecutions and concentration camps,” Mikov states.

The social leader adds that 11.04 is a memorable date also because – the example of the Buchenwald concentration camp inmates is proof that freedom is a value related to indestructible human dignity. “She can stand up and lead to victory even the weak, the naked, the hungry…” concludes Mikhail Mikov

Comrades,

April 11 is the International Day of Political Prisoners, Concentration Camp Inmates and Victims of Fascism and Wars. We associate the date with the outbreak of the uprising in “Buchenwald” in the spring of 1945, when the campers themselves won their freedom even before the arrival of the Allied troops at the end of the Second World War. Today we honor the memory of these victims of the fascist persecutions and the war ignited by regimes rooted in the negation of other political ideologies and the destruction of the different, dissenting, foreign – ethnic and religious minorities, political opponents, prisoners of war.

It is vitally important that we do not lose sight of these historical follies, even when erasure would serve some contemporary politically correct restatement of the facts well. We have witnessed such attempts in recent decades in Bulgaria. Unfortunately, they continue today, but they will not succeed as long as there is political will to counter it. BSP is the bearer of such a will. Most recently, it found expression in the bill submitted by the left to declare the authoritarian regimes in the period 1923-1926 and 1934-1944 criminal. We associate them with years in which there was a systematic and purposeful destruction of democratic principles, persecutions and concentration camps in our country as well.

April 11 is a memorable date for another reason. The example of the Buchenwald concentration camp inmates is proof that freedom is a value associated with indestructible human dignity. It can raise up and lead to victory even the weak, the naked, the hungry…
