As of today, stricter contact restrictions apply in Hesse. Dance events are forbidden, there is again “ghost peeking” in the stadiums.

Stricter corona rules in Hesse also apply to those who have been vaccinated and recovered from Tuesday. The state government is reacting to the spread of the Omikron variant, which has already led to a sharp increase in the number of cases in several neighboring countries.

Initially until January 13th, only up to ten people are allowed to gather in public. As soon as people who have not been vaccinated or who have not recovered are there, only members of one household with a maximum of two people from another household are allowed to meet. The only exceptions are children under the age of 14 and people who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons.

The state government urgently recommends not to meet more people in private than is now permitted in public. Everything has to be done to contain the upcoming fifth wave, Prime Minister Volker Bouffier (CDU) said before Christmas.

You can only dance into the New Year in Hesse in a private setting. Dance events are prohibited as of today. Discos, dance halls and clubs are also no longer allowed to open in principle. At most, it is still permissible to use the rooms for gastronomic purposes.

Even stricter rules apply to events as of today. Only 250 guests are now allowed – regardless of whether it is an indoor or outdoor event. The regulation also applies to football stadiums, for example. There are again “ghost games”.

Even stricter rules apply on New Year’s Eve. Gatherings in larger areas are prohibited. Fireworks may not be ignited there either. For the second time in a row, their sale is also prohibited.

There have been significant restrictions for many other areas for a long time. In the retail trade, for example, outside of daily needs, only people who have been shown to have been vaccinated or have recovered are allowed to shop. This 2G regulation also applies to overnight stays for tourists and visits to restaurants. Visitors to hospitals and nursing homes must have a negative rapid test, even if they have been vaccinated or have recovered. 3G applies in local public transport.

Stricter rules apply in counties and urban districts where the seven-day incidence is over 350 for three consecutive days. In these “hotspots” only 50 people are allowed to meet for private parties. 2G plus applies to restaurants and overnight stays in hotels. Only those who have recovered and who have been tested with a current negative test are allowed in.

Currently, no district or city in Hesse is considered a “hotspot”. The incidence is highest in Offenbach at 275.8. Nationwide, the seven-day incidence fell again to 167.6. Six people died. The incidence of hospitalization fell again. According to the Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs, the number of Covid patients newly admitted to hospitals was 2.51 per 100,000 people in the past seven days on Monday. A week ago it was 3.7. The Robert Koch Institute points out that the figures are currently of limited value due to lower test and reporting activity on the holidays. (with dpa)
