The bulkheads of the Röntgen Gymnasium were tight for a week. Instead, all 850 students and teachers were asked to test and wait. Now all test results are available and with them the certainty. None of the students and teachers contracted Corona in class.
All infected people were infected outside of school and independently of each other, the deputy headmaster Nikolaus Kocher confirmed to this editorial team. There were a total of four positive Covid 19 cases at the Röntgen Gymnasium. One of them was a student who only tested positive on the test track at Dallenbergbad. This was built especially for the school. Up to 1000 tests per day for students, teachers and their relatives were planned on the test track.
The most important finding of the week: The hygiene concept in schools is working
The most important finding of the week: The hygiene concept in schools is working. On Monday, September 21st, the school will go back to normal operations. With the exception of the class of the student who tested positive before and a few contact persons. In consultation with the school management, the health department has decided that this group of people must stay at home until Thursday, September 24th. For the second time, pupils and teachers who have since become symptomatic are tested. They are only allowed to go to school again after a negative test result? until then, they too will remain in quarantine. These people will be informed of the details by the school administration, said school principal Klauspeter Schmidt.
For all other students it is “Back to School” with admission control. Only those who can show a negative Covid-19 test are allowed to re-enter the school.
Opening had to be postponed
The Röntgen Gymnasium was supposed to reopen on Thursday. The school management was already planning the start of regular operations at “full speed”, especially since the school management was not yet aware of any new positive corona cases.
But then on Wednesday afternoon the surprise: The X-ray high school will remain closed until Friday inclusive, reported the press office of the city of Würzburg. The cross-agency Corona coordination group decided that, as not all test results were available on Wednesday and still have to be precisely assessed. This leaves enough lead time to make an informed decision.
New test station at the Dallenbergbad
In addition to the X-ray high school, there were confirmed corona cases at 16 other schools in Würzburg and in the district. But a separate test track, such as that set up for the Röntgen Gymnasium, was the exception. So why did the health department set up its own test station at the Gymnasium am Sanderring? “In addition to the people who tested positive, other suspected persons are symptomatic at the X-ray grammar school,” says the district office’s press release. For example, this was not the case at Wirsberg-Gymnasium, where a corona case was also known. The health department has played it safe in order to safely rule out further chains of infection with further positive corona cases at the Röntgen Gymnasium.
Dallenbergbad – own test station for schools?
Register, measure temperature and take saliva smear – every quarter of an hour. So the plan for the X-ray high school. But already on the first day a different picture emerged on the test track. People migrated from the heavily frequented Talavera test station and had themselves tested at the Dallenbergbad. Instead of the calculated 1000 school members, more than 1400 people came. The result: long waiting times in the blazing sun for students and parents. However, the school management of the Röntgen Gymnasium had no influence on the processes on the test track. Who was tested at the Dallenbergbad and who was not, was the responsibility of the health department.
During the week, the number of positive Covid-19 infections increased in schools in the city and in the district. The health department reacted accordingly, because on Monday the students from other affected schools still had to take care of their Covid-19 tests themselves. According to the health department, 2314 tests have been carried out at the Dallenbergbad since then.
There is currently a mobile test track run by the government of Lower Franconia on the Dallenberg car park. This will still be in use on Sunday and Monday for tests of school classes and KP 1 there. The test track is updated daily by the government of Lower Franconia and made available to those district administrative authorities in Lower Franconia that need it most urgently.
