Freiburg again! The footballers of VfL Wolfsburg have left their first points in the Bundesliga! The team of VfL coach Tommy Stroot did not get more than 2-2 on the fourth matchday at SC Freiburg, which was still pointless. The goals in the Möslestadion were scored by Tabea Waßmuth and Dominique Janssen, while Mia Büchele and Hasret Kayikci scored for the SC.

The SC was the Wolfsburg-Schreck already last season! Back then, the 29-year-old Kayikci scored on the sixth match day against VfL in the fifth (!) Minute of stoppage time to equalize 1-1. In the further course of the season, VfL only dropped points against Bayern. The draw cost the Wolfsburg women important points in the battle for the championship, which then went to Munich.

In the Breisgau, Almuth Schult (red card suspension) and defensive boss Janssen (was spared against Duisburg) returned two top performers, for the knee injured Ewa Pajor, as expected, Joelle Smits moved into the striker. Nothing changed at the beginning of the route: the guests from Wolfsburg clearly set the tone in the initial phase and found good solutions with the ball against the Freiburg five-a-side chain. The playful dominance paid off after just three minutes! Lena Oberdorf served Waßmuth from the center line on the right, who then moved in Arjen-Robben-style in front of the sixteenth and simply slammed the ball on goal – 1-0!
The SC remained dangerous and got stronger over time, but the VfL let too much. After about 30 minutes Sofie Svava lost the ball in a duel with Lisa Karl, who passed it straight into the penalty area. The Wolfsburg team blocked two shots, but did not manage to bring the ball back out of the box to secure it. The ball then landed at the 17-year-old Büchele, who equalized with an attempt from around 15 meters!

After the restart, the lead for Freiburg! Schult made a big false pass and served with a tee in his own penalty area Kayikci, who could not be asked twice and netted to lead 2-1 (50th). From then on, the Freiburg women played confidently forward, VfL had to shake. The answer followed promptly: Janssen equalized after a corner just a few minutes later – 2: 2! The Dutch VfL captain did not cheer, but instead whipped her team loudly forward.
The game developed into a game of patience. The SC defended consistently and pulled almost all field players into their own penalty area, VfL no longer wanted to take too much risk, but pushed for the renewed lead. In the Freiburg penalty area there was little or hardly any space, in the end it was 2-2. What is a bitter loss of points for VfL in the race for the championship, meant for SC the first point win of the season! The Freiburg women cheered loudly after the final whistle.
