Since this Wednesday, millions of people have opened a door in their Advent calendar every morning. The pre-Christmas season has begun, November is history. It was a heyday for Eintracht Frankfurt late in the year.
The Hessians caught up in the Bundesliga after a mixed start to the season and scored three wins in a row. At SpVgg Greuther Fürth, SC Freiburg and against Union Berlin, three threesomes were scored in the three game days of November, which was shortened due to an international break. This means that Eintracht is alone at the top of the Bundesliga table for the month. All other clubs have lost at least once or, in the case of 1.FC Köln, have drawn twice.
Bochum surprised
Closest on the heels of Eintracht in November were Bayer Leverkusen, which only held a 1-1 draw against Hertha BSC from the optimal yield with nine points. Behind them is a quartet with two wins and one defeat. Most should have expected Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern, the opponents of the Bundesliga hit on Saturday evening. Maybe also with TSG Hoffenheim. The fact that newly promoted VfL Bochum would get six out of nine points in November is certainly a positive surprise.
Freiburg leaves feathers
Freiburg has been the biggest positive surprise over the season so far, but the picture lost its luster in November. In addition to the so far rather hopelessly overwhelmed Fürth clovers, only the Breisgauers lost all three games in November. All other Bundesliga clubs have got at least two points. But there is also no great satisfaction at RB Leipzig. Despite a win against BVB, the Saxons are only 14th in the November table.
