Riga’s “Dinamo” match against Nizhnekamsk’s “Neftehimik” did not take place on Friday, as several guest players were found to have a positive Covid-19 test upon arrival in Latvia. The doctor of the Rigans team Ēriks Didrihsons told Latvian Television that only the bus drivers had contact with the guest hockey team.
Neftehimik arrived in Riga on Thursday evening, when the team and all staff underwent mandatory Covid-19 tests. The initial information was that positive analyzes were found for seven persons, but later found that the positive test is four hockey players.
The team from Nizhnekamsk spent the night from Thursday to Friday in a hotel in Riga. Dedrichson, the doctor responsible for following the Covid-19 protocol, explained that the hotel has two completely isolated floors, where only the guest hockey team is located. The hotel staff is specially instructed to prevent the transmission of infection, and the guest team is supervised by a security company.
Riga “Dinamo” is responsible for how the guest teams follow the specially developed rules. Representatives of the club stated that Neftehimik did everything they were asked to do. On Friday, the team left Latvia for the tramp.
Didrichson stressed that the only bus drivers who contacted Neftehimik were those who took the team from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the arena. During the guests’ only training, the arena staff was not close to the team, but stayed in their premises until Neftehimik left.
No “Dinamo” hockey player has contacted the representatives of “Neftehimik” and can safely continue the season. “Dinamo” had a training session on Friday, but the next game for the team in the Continental Hockey League (KHL) is scheduled for September 14 in Novosibirsk against “Sibirj”.
