One person confessed: ‘It’s a hell of a ghetto and it smells like weeds’, while another added ‘It’s not a very nice place’.
But not everyone criticized it.
In the video, a man says: ‘Croydon is a cosmopolitan and cultural place. ‘It’s not boring,’ he said.
Another added: ‘Croydon is lovely’, while another praised ‘It’s a lovely place, safe and nice place’.
On Reddit, Giles Towler called Croydon the ‘gem of the south’, while user @enic77 joked it was an area ‘only a mother would love’.

Despite this, Croydon seems to be loved by many as it is well connected to central London as well as cultural attractions including Surrey Street Market and Matthew’s Yard.
There’s no shortage of green space, including Wandle Park, Lloyd Park and Addington Hills.

Elsewhere, Londoners are growing increasingly disillusioned with life in the Big Smoke, but appear to have no plans to leave.
