Pray for the soul of God’s servant Petko Hinov – newly ordained. The sad news was announced on Facebook by Father Vladimir Doychev.
Petko Hinov was born on September 4, 1972 in Plovdiv. He graduated from Plovdiv English High School (1991), then from Sofia University with a first degree in Chinese Philology and a second degree in Romanian Philology (1996).
He published the collection of poems “Mourning melodies for the homeland and the soul” in the online collection “Orthodox Home” under the pseudonym Philip Andreev. There are other his stories and articles. He is a translator of articles and books from English, Russian, Romanian, Chinese, Serbian and Church Slavonic into Bulgarian, as well as from Bulgarian into English, Russian and Chinese. Some of his translations have been published on the Internet. Author of liturgical hymns and services in the Church Slavonic language. Records and publishes audiobooks on his own website.
In 2006 his collection dedicated to the martyrs of Batak was published, entitled “In the footsteps of the Bulgarian New Martyrs, item 1 – Batak New Martyrs”.
From 2010 to 2013 he worked in China as an English teacher in Foshan, Guangdong Province, China.
In 2013 he returned to Bulgaria with his Chinese wife and since then he has been working as a translator (Chinese, Old Chinese, Old Bulgarian, Old Russian), associate, editor and consultant of the East-West Publishing House.
In July 2015 he participated in the “Scientific and Educational Program for Young Chinese” organized by the Ministry of Culture of the People’s Republic of China and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, worked at the Institute for the Study of the Novel “Sleep in Scarlet Rooms” The tears of love between nostalgia and beauty in the novel “A Dream in Scarlet Rooms” and “Bulgarian Literature”.
In April 2016, Petko T. Hinov was accepted as a member of the Union of Translators in Bulgaria (Fiction Section).
