The SVP limitation initiative, which will be voted on on September 27, does not come off well in a representative survey by gfs.bern. In spring 2019, 33 percent of voters still intended to vote for the initiative. A year later, this figure is 29 percent. In contrast, 69 percent now reject the initiative, which corresponds to an increase of 5 percent compared to 2019.
The arguments against the initiative focus on the fear of economic damage. It is irresponsible for around two thirds of the people surveyed to risk access to the most important sales market. The initiative would also exacerbate the skills shortage.
Majority for framework agreements
In the survey, 49 percent of the Swiss voters polled also rated the bilateral Switzerland-EU contracts as advantageous. 28 percent see the advantages and disadvantages balanced, and 18 percent consider the bilaterals to be disadvantageous.
The institutional agreement between Switzerland and the EU also continues to find a stable majority with 64 percent in favor. The poll released on Friday was released by the research institute gfsRepresentatively carried out on behalf of Interpharma in May for around 2000 people.
