The price ceiling for energy will end at the end of the year and so will this special dispute committee. Due to the price ceiling, consumers this year paid no more than 1.45 euros per cubic meter for the first 1,200 cubic meters of gas and 40 euro cents per kWh for the first 2,900 kilowatt hours of electricity.
Calculation error
Because the plan was developed under high time pressure, a separate complaints desk has been set up at the Disputes Committee. Consumers can report their dispute here if, in their opinion, energy companies have made a calculation error when implementing the price ceiling and you as a consumer have received an energy bill that is too high.
Now that the end of the energy price ceiling is in sight, it is time to take stock.
A total of 23 complaints were received. Nine complaints have been completed, for example because it is suitable or a consumer has stopped the procedure in the meantime.
Fourteen more complaints are being processed. In one case a decision has actually been made. “This complaint was unfounded and the consumer will therefore not receive any compensation,” says a spokesperson for the Disputes Committee.
Complaints desk still open
The complaints desk is still openso a consumer with a complaint specifically about the energy price ceiling can report here, provided the dispute does not exceed 5,000 euros.
Submitting a complaint costs 52.50 euros and if the decision is in your favour, you will get this amount back.
