Only 2 foreign tourists visited Bali last month, how come?

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The government has officially opened the entrance to Ngurah Rai International airport for foreign tourists since last October. However, it turns out that this does not make foreign tourists interested in directly taking a trip to the Island of the Gods.

This is reflected in data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) which recorded the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia through the Ngurah Rai airport, which only amounted to 2 visits in October 2021. The realization of this visit decreased compared to the same period the previous year which had 7 visits.

Possibly, foreign tourists are still reluctant to vacation in Bali due to super strict rules. Where the government requires foreign tourists visiting Bali to undergo an independent quarantine period for 3 days.

This makes foreign tourists prefer to visit other tourist countries that are more flexible than Indonesia. One of them to Phuket Thailand.

The total number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia in October through the airport was 15.72 thousand visits. Most of the entry through Soekarno-Hatta Airport was 13,700 visits and Sam Ratulangi Airport with 1,952 visits.

In the third position, there were 37 visits through the Juanda Airport entrance and 2 visits through the Bali gate and 31 visits from other airports last October.

Overall, the number of foreign tourists entering Indonesia either through air, sea and land entrances reached 151 thousand visits. The number of visits increased quite significantly, namely 21.73% compared to the previous month. From before, only 124.1 thousand visits to 151 thousand visits.

However, when compared to the same period the previous year, the number of foreign tourists visiting Indonesia still contracted but was very thin at 0.83%. Where in the previous year the number of visits was 152.3 thousand visits.
