Moving from traditional television to a home with In-Plane Switching (IP’s) is gaining momentum around the world.
With this high-quality screen technology, smart TVs now become a hub where an entire ecosystem of screens connects: tablets, mobiles and computers.
In 2017, two out of 10 households had a television with IP’s, but now, 63% have this technology, according to the report “The Future Viewing Experience” by Kantar.
Despite having these tools in place, the report notes that content will remain critical to continued innovation, despite viewers’ known fatigue from having to choose what they watch.
Exploration of trending formats
With the rise of these devices, content platforms explore formats where they incorporate trends from before, such as: scripted content, online premiere, series marathons, chapter available per week, among others.
According to “The Future Viewing Experience”, another of the trends that affects content and what users want to see is “globalization”, that is, local content on world platforms, such as: “The Squid Game”, “The Paper House” and “Lupin”.
“In this battle to capture the attention of the end user around the content, the market is moving towards the so-called vertical integration, that is, big players that seek to control the entire chain, from production to broadcast. Even some until the manufacture of the device (Amazon) ”, details the report.
