Unequal living conditions are one of the most important issues in Germany, not least exacerbated by the corona pandemic, which affects people very differently.

The new data report 2021 will be published on March 10, and will provide a detailed picture of living conditions in Germany. How have income, risks of poverty and educational opportunities developed? And how do people perceive their participation in social life? To this end, the social report combines data from official statistics with empirical findings from social research.

Results on inequality for different areas of life such as work, education or the relationship between the sexes will be presented at the press conference. One focus is on the effects of the corona pandemic, for which the data report mainly contains figures for the first half of 2020.

The data report is published by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis), the Berlin Science Center for Social Research (WZB), the Federal Institute for Population Research (BiB) in cooperation with the Socio-Economic Panel (SOEP). It appears as a publication by the Federal Agency for Civic Education / bpb.
