Incheon City’s ‘Online Cemetery’, which started due to COVID-19, will continue this year’s Chuseok. Incheon City announced on the 18th that it will operate an online grave system at Incheon Family Park during this Chuseok holiday. It also provides services such as a deceased gallery, bereaved family messenger, and deceased location information. Online Holy Sepulcher refers to an online ancestral rite service that allows citizens to perform ancestral rites using an online video connection system. As COVID-19 spread, Incheon City became the first city in the country to operate an online grave system at Incheon Family Park. However, even during the Lunar New Year holiday after normalcy was restored, the service was receiving great response from citizens, with over 34,000 people using the online grave system. Accordingly, Incheon City expects that the online funeral system will help disperse the number of visitors to the grave during the Chuseok holiday. Incheon City predicts that the number of mourners who will visit Incheon Family Park during the Chuseok holiday will reach 350,000. Meanwhile, Incheon City decided to set the period from the 28th to October 3rd, including temporary holidays, as the holiday grave preparation period and to promote various safety, traffic, and parking measures. Incheon City will operate Incheon Family Park normally during the Chuseok holiday. However, on the 29th, the day of Chuseok, vehicle access to Incheon Family Park will be completely restricted. Instead, we plan to operate a free shuttle bus departing from Bupyeong Intersection. During the holiday period, excluding the day of Chuseok, we plan to flexibly control vehicle access into Incheon Family Park depending on traffic conditions. The opening hours of Incheon Family Park will be advanced from 8 a.m. to 6 a.m. To solve the parking problem, the nearby Jeil High School playground will be opened as a temporary parking lot from the 28th to the 30th. Kim Ji-young, Director of Incheon City Gender Equality and Family Bureau, said, “Congestion in the family park and surrounding areas is expected during the Chuseok holiday. “We ask that you actively use online or advance burial services,” she said.
