Timisoara – The regional blood donation center Timişoara/Timișoara is calling on all able-bodied people to donate blood, especially since blood reserves are always particularly scarce during the holiday season. The center on Martyr Marius Ciopec Street, in the immediate vicinity of the district hospital, is open daily from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Those interested can schedule a blood donation appointment via the Donorium and BlooDoChallenge apps, both available on Android and iOS.
There are a few rules to follow when donating blood. For example, people vaccinated against Covid-19 with vaccines from Pfizer or Moderna are only allowed to donate blood seven days after receiving the vaccination, while those who have had an AstraZeneca or Johnson & Johnson vaccination have to wait four weeks. Anyone wishing to donate must be healthy and well rested, have eaten a light breakfast and water, and have had no alcohol for at least 72 hours prior to donating.
Everyone receives a food ticket worth 60 lei for their donation, but the good deed is priceless. The blood taken from a donation can save the lives of up to three patients.
